The Blow Holes

After driving about 8 km of the "main" road, we finally made it to the Blowholes. It was a location Chris had wanted us to visit from the very beginning, and it was the third time we had attempted to visit, the first time we were blocked about 5 kms from the end of the road due to the crab migration. The second time, we where blocked 2 kms, again by the crab migration.

Finally on New Years Day, the entire road was open, and we could drive all the way in. (I had been happy to walk the final 2km, on the second attempt, but Chris had indicated while it was 2km, about 500meters was directly down hill.)

So we drove past the last Red Crab gate, (and a parked 4wd) turned left, and descended down the steepest decent I have ever driven, luckily it was all limestone and phosphate, so while steep, no slippage or sliding.

We got to the bottom, turned right and followed the track through to the final car park, passing the drivers of the 4wd on the way. Pussies I thought as I passed them, that hill is not half as bad as it looks I thought.

Once at the car park, Chris was so excited, this place is absolutely amazing she repeated for the 10th time, you wont believe it.
With such an oversell, I was prepared for disappointment, however, it was amazing. The videos hopefully will give you some idea of what we experienced, the roar of the sea as it rushes into the blowholes, is something that is had to explain. I guess you will have to come and see if for your self.
